A Unilateral Epiretinal Membrane Presenting with Decreased Stereoacuity

Abstract

|
A 42-year old woman presented with declining depth perception and distorted vision that occurred two months before her visit to the hospital. Even though visual acuity was preserved, stereoacuity was decreased. Amsler chart detected the metamorphopsia qualitatively in the left eye. Retinal crease was demonstrated in the fundus exam and the epiretinal membrane was noted in optical coherence tomography. In this patient, metamorphopsia and decreased stereopsis was caused by an unilateral epiretinal membrane of the left eye. The normal visual acuity could mask visual disturbance of patients. Therefore, a detailed history taking and examination is important in managing of patient with decreased vision, even though with good best-corrected visual acuity.
